Ra

by Matthew Welde

living strangers take a bow

sacred cows ‘neath the tired moons

thirteen hundred silver spoons

but after all the sun is

sweet Osiris lays his claim

daisy chains are buried

you can hear him stirring at night

cause after all the sun is

oh Ra lay-ly-low

lonesome marble hangs in space

what’s the race we’re running in?

so little notion where we’re going and where we’ve been

but after all the sun is

most of us we don’t know how

even now and even then

tomorrow’s coming you just don’t know when

after all the sun is

oh Ra lay-ly-low

he took me in and Ra said

lay-ly-low boy you’ll get smart

but don’t let your head get ahead of your heart

after all the sun is

he said no one fears their darkness child

i know it’s wild but we fear our light

but you’re allowed to just be bright

cause after all the sun is

oh Ra lay-ly-low
