I Think We'll Be Ok
by Matthew Welde
ain’t no telling when the creek 'gone rise
the air is wet, the water flies
we’re out of survival supplies
all i've got is little white lies
i think we’re gonna be okay
2020 had its fill
of staring at the world stand still
exercises in free will
killed just like a virus kills
i think we’re gonna be okay
i can’t find no work these days
every day’s a holiday
the government says patience pays
but it don’t pay me nowadays
i think we’re gonna be okay
buy my bread from the grocery store
never made my own before
eggs and yeast and flour are more
ingredients than i can afford
i think we’re gonna be okay
you’re allowed to go outside
but when you’re outside try to hide
wear this mask or else you’ll find
out that you’re the other kind
i think we’re gonna be okay
they say you must join a team
the right and left both make you scream
the truth is somewhere in between
power a pyramid scheme
i think we’re gonna be okay
turning on that tv screen
will make your mind a can of beans
and make you wish that your were clean
those dirty lies will make you mean!
i think we’re gonna be okay
the internet’s a launching pad
to drive you nuts and make you mad
tired of those youtube ads?
facebook found your deadbeat dad
i think we’re gonna be okay
don’t you wallow in despair
don’t you act like you don’t care
good things comes to the well prepared
so build a boat and float somewhere
i think we’re gonna be okay
tell them all where you are from
you were born to overcome
modesty so overdone
the quiet ones get overrun
i think we’re gonna be okay
